Primus Metatarsus Supinatus (Rothbarts Foot )
I discovered and was the first to publish on the Primus Metatarsus Supinatus foot and its embryological etiology (Journal Bodywork and Movement Therapies, 2002).
This research was part of a series of discoveries that ultimately led to a therapy that, in many cases, permanently eliminates chronic musculoskeletal pain without the use of drugs or surgery. This therapy is called Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy, in which I use a series of tests, proprietary computer analyses, custom designed Rothbart Proprioceptive Insoles and ongoing monitoring to address all of the changes in the patients condition and necessary changes in prescriptions, until the chronic muscle and/or joint pain is eliminated.
Here is an excerpt from the article, "Rothbart Foot Structure" that appears on my research website, written by myself, that ultimately led to the development of Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy:
“In 2002, Professor Brian A. Rothbart published a paper in the Journal Bodyworks and Movement Therapy describing a previously unreported embryological foot type, referred to as the Primus Metatarsus Supinatus Foot, which he linked to the failed or incomplete torsional development of the talus. Clinically this results in an elevated first metatarsal and hallux (big toe). When this paper was published, I still thought that Rothbarts Foot and Morton's Foot might be identical foot structures. However, after further years of research on aberrant patterns of development, it became apparent to me that these were totally different foot structures.
A (1) deep first web space (See Figure 1 Below), (2) positive Knee Bend Test and (3) lateral heel wear patterns, provide a 90-95% level of confidence that you are dealing with a Primus Metatarsus Supinatus foot type.”
