Internal Leg Rotation Study
I was the first researcher to suggest that Internal Leg Rotation (ILR) is a compensatory mechanism seem in children with Rothbart's Foot. ILR decreases the abnormal foot twist generated by Rothbarts Foot which, in turn, decreases the postural distortions linked to chronic muscle and joint pain.
This research was part of a series of discoveries that ultimately led to a therapy that, in many cases, permanently eliminates chronic musculoskeletal pain without the use of drugs or surgery. This therapy is called Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy, in which I use a series of tests, proprietary computer analyses, custom designed Rothbart Proprioceptive Insoles and ongoing monitoring to address all of the changes in the patients condition and necessary changes in prescriptions, until the chronic muscle and/or joint pain is eliminated.

Internal Leg Rotation Study, Bellevue Foot and Ankle Center, 1993-94
427 Children (ages 6-12) diagnosed as having the Primus Metatarsus Supinatus (Rothbarts) foot
39 of the 427 children demonstrated an intoeing gait pattern (>5 degrees internal deviation of the longitudingal axis of the foot relative to the linear line or progression) Average PMs Value in the 39 Children with Intoeing Gait Pattern: 19.9mm (See Data Table below).
I suggest that anterversion (positional compensation in which the foot is internally rotated via the recruitment of the gluteal medius and minimus muscles) is a relatively frequent adaptation to the Primus Metatarus Supinatus foot structure. Intoeing prevents the foot from abnormally pronating.
