The Consequences of Using an Incorrect Proprioceptive Insole - Joints

Some people, hoping for an easy and inexpensive solution to get rid of their chronic pain, consider alternative options that appear to be similar to Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy.  One such ‘solution’ is to buy prefabricated proprioceptive insoles (proprioceptive insoles that have not been custom designed for your specific needs).

These prefabricated insoles have been constructed from information taken from patents that I invented.  They are being sold via the Internet directly to the general public as a simple and inexpensive way to resolve a lifetime of chronic pain, without having to first go through the extensive testing and analysis, which are specific to Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy and absolutely necessary in order to correctly prescribe my insoles.  I am not associated with, nor do I endorse any of these websites.

Before buying a prefabricated insole off the Internet, people sometimes ask my advice as to whether these will eliminate their chronic pain problem.   My answer is that, using these pre-fabricated insoles without first undergoing the necessary tests and analyses to determine what you need is like buying a potent drug without undergoing a thorough examination and evaluation by your medical doctor.  Again, if used incorrectly, meaning the wrong type of proprioceptive insole or wrong strength of stimulation, the insoles will not work. In fact, they could make your problem worse.

JOINTS

Below is an example when an incorrect proprioceptive insole is used (see animation):

The ideal postural position is where the ear is directly over the ankle bone.  But, in this person, while standing on an incorrect proprioceptive insole (labeled as With Stimulation), the posture immediately shifts more forward and the ear moves even further away from the ankle bone.

If the body's posture is shifted forward the weight bearing joints are no longer functioning around their anatomical correct position.  This results in the weight bearing joints wearing unevenly, much like a car with an alignment problem in which the tires wear unevenly.  We call this uneven wear pattern within the joints, Osteodegenerative Arthritis.

By increasing the forward postural position, in many people this will immediately increase their ankle, knee, back, neck and/or jaw pain.

Incorrect proprioceptive insoles can also create head and visceral symptoms, including the stomach.

Please be advised, there is no quick fix for a severely damaged body.  For most chronic musculoskeletal pain problems, the road back to health is not as quick or easy as simply putting a pre-fabricated insole under your feet. If it was, there would not be the pandemic of chronic musculoskeletal pain that we see today throughout the world.

Thanks for the information. It is tempting to look for an easy way out following years of continuous pain. The last thing anyone would want to do is exacerbate the condition. While the internet can be a great place to shop when it comes to our health it is obviously better to get advice from the experts.

This is a very clear explanation into incorrect insoles. My daughter developed problems with her posture following the application of prefabricated insoles.

It's a shame that unscrupulous people are not only pirating your patented features but also duping and potentially harming people just to make money. They certainly aren't trying to help anyone but themselves. I'm so glad I found your site before I found one of theirs.
