Multiple Sclerosis - Its Impact on Montel William's Life

Nearly 1.5 million Americans are living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS).  MS is a potentially debilitating disease in which the body’s immune system destroys the protective sheath (Sheath of Swan) that covers the nerves.  The signs and symptoms of MS vary widely depending on the degree of damage to the nerves and may include:
  • numbness or weakness in the limbs
  • lack of coordination
  • unsteady gait
  • fatigue and dizzness
  • severe pain

When Montel Williams was interviewed by Oprah Winfrey, he described his primary symptom as pain: “I’ve got pain from my shins to my feet, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and it’s been there for the last 10 years.”

Then the pain spread to Montel’s face. “It literally feels like you’re taking a fork and stabbing me right now.  And when asked how he deals with the pain, Montel said: “I bundle up the pain and keep it in a box, so I can deal with other things.”

”There was this time, Montel said, that I went into my closet and put a gun in my mouth.  I just wanted to stop the pain.  {However}, the only thing that stopped me from doing this was the fact {that} I had very small children in the house.”

From Montel’s description of his disease, one can easily appreciate how devastating this disease can be.

Many MS patients, unable to withstand the incessant, unrelenting pain resulting from MS, become depressed and have suicidal thoughts.  In fact, a leading cause of death in MS sufferers is suicide.

However, what is of paramount importance to MS patients is that many of their severe symptoms may not be due to MS.  That is, I have seen many MS patients who concurrently have Rothbarts Foot, an embryological foot structure present at birth. This foot structure, if left untreated, can lead to many of the same symptoms attributed to MS.

When these MS patients are treated for the Rothbarts foot (a therapy referred to as Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy or RPT) they dramatically improve.  The numbness in their limbs decrease, their coordination improves, their gait becomes more steady, their fatigue decreases, and most importantly, their muscle and joint pain decreases.

One may ask, how can this occur?  Is RPT a cure for multiple sclerosis?  The answer is an empathic no!  What is happening is that RPT eliminates the symptoms resulting from the Rothbarts Foot.  These patients still have MS, but they dramatically feel and function better because the symptoms resulting from their foot structure are eliminated. (To learn more, listen to my interview with Coach Marla Matindale where I discuss the link between Multiple Sclerosis and Rothbarts Foot structure.)

So how can a MS patient determine if he also has Rothbarts Foot?  A very common symptom of Rothbarts Foot is a forward head position.  As you can see in Montel’s photographs above and below, he definitely has a forward head position.

However, not all people with a forward head position have Rothbarts Foot.  If you would like to determine if you have Rothbarts Foot, take the Rothbarts Foot Questionairre.

I appreciate your site. MS is indeed a very painful and damaging condition.

Using Montel Williams as your celebrity for this article is an interesting idea. He DID indeed suffer immensely from MS. I emphasize DID because he has since found relief, and says "It's the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me!"

    Do you know what happened?

If you are using his story, I feel it is your obligation to also inform those you talk to about what WORKED for Montel Williams.

Here is how he was made whole:

      Dear Steve,

You are correct when you say "MS is indeed a very painful and damaging condition".  In fact, in its severest forms, MS can actually lead to paralysis.

Unfortunately, the cause of MS is unknown.  The chiropractic technique that Montel responded favorably to is termed Atlas Orthogonal Therapy.  Basically it is an approach that optimizes the alignment between the first and second vertebrae to the base of the skull.  By so doing, it is felt that the nerve conduction between the head and the trunk of the body is improved.

To be effective, Atlas Orthogonal Therapy (AOT) frequently requires periodic treatments.  This is because AOT is not treating the cause of MS, but instead, is treating some of the symptoms of MS (weakness, poor coordination and pain).  Certainly, this approach is better than taking medication because it has far fewer side effects and is an effective pain management intervention.

What I commented on was that some of the people diagnosed as having MS also were born with one or the two foot abnormalities I discovered and published on.  The chronic pain symptoms associated with these abnormal foot structures are very similar to the symptoms attributed to MS.  Because these foot structures are so common, many of the MS patient's symptoms that are attributed to MS are really coming from the foot abnormality.

In these MS patients, who also have the abnormal foot structures, by effectively treating the foot problem, the MS symptoms dramatically decrease.  The patient still has MS.  But they feel dramatically better because the symptoms coming from the abnormal foot structure are eliminated.
