Dear Lori,

Your sacrum should not be dislocating. The cause of the sacral instability needs to be determined and treated. Shoes can be a contributing factor but not the cause. That is, your shoes are not the reason your sacrum is unstable.

Piriformis syndrome is a symptom. My research indicates that in many cases, this syndrome is the result of either Rothbarts Foot or the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity.

Dear Mara,

I am currently involved in Dental Research, looking at the Descending Postural Distortional Patterns resulting from MalOcclusions. You can access this work on my research website at Dental Mechanics.

Recently, I have linked C1 Rolls to both Ascending Postural Distortional Patterns (coming from the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity) and Descending Postural Distortional Patterns (coming from the bite). I am finding that the previously intractable cases (cases that no one could resolve) are those patients who have a mixed Postural Distortional Pattern (coming from both the feet and the bite). You will find more information on my research site on the following pages: Ascending Patterns and Descending Patterns.

Dear Mike,

Rothbarts Foot or the PreClinical Clubfoot Deformity can definitely be the cause of scoliosis. I have reversed the scoliotic curves in many patients with scoliosis through the use of Rothbart Proprioceptive Therapy.

You might find this recent study of interest. It involves 25 patients diagnosed as having Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. A direct correlation was found between the Rothbarts Foot and the development of Scoliosis.

I loved all the blog. Congratulations!
I apreciate your attention. I am working as a voluntary guide for Scientific Research about TJM Syndrome for the completion of the Chiropractic course and the our sample age ranges Between 3-18 years olds and would like to know if there is already any work you done in this age group that we could reproduce here in Brazil.
For your enjoyment, is a abstract of research that supervised and that we presented last june month. I await your contact.
ABSTRACT

Objectives: To investigate the influence of weight and way of carrying school material on postural deviations in children between 10-14 years of age and to evaluate the effects of chiropractic care in the most frequent changes. Methods: Cross-sectional study in held São Paulo, between September to December 2010 with 114 students selected at random. The anthropometric measurements, weight and mode of carrying the school material transported and record postural photogrammetric computer, processed by software SAPO postural before and after the treatment period consisted of 12 sessions to assess the effectiveness of Manipulative Therapy, which protocol included tissue release, stretching exercises, muscle strengthening and joint adjustment. Results: The changes were prevalent: asymmetry of the shoulders 50%, head over to the trunk 45%, change in the angle of Thales 7%, 6% of the spine, 6% scoliosis, and 26% of students had more than one asymmetry. The weight of the pack at 40% of the students was considered excessive and beyond 10% of body weight. The backpack with double support (recommended) was the most widely adopted model. Manipulative therapy provided a significant improvement in the asymmetry of the head and misalignments scapulohumeral, providing improved cervical physiological curvature, favoring the balance the shoulder girdle and pelvic girdle accordingly. Conclusions: Most students who had the habit of carrying excess weight in their backpacks had a higher incidence of postural deviations. Manipulative Therapy was associated with the repositioning of balanced deviations found.

Dear Tara,

A forward head position and unleveling of the shoulders are symptoms of an underlying cause. It is more logical to treat the 'cause' than have surgery (which will only manage the symptoms).

Many times a forward head position is a postural distortion resulting from foot twist. By determining the cause(s) of the foot twist and correctly treating that cause, this will allow the head to automatically re-position itself over the spine, without further therapy being needed.

My assistant, Linda, will contact you.

Hello Dr. Rothbart,

Im a parent of a 14 year old boy who has a forward head and high right shoulder. We have seen some back specialists who just want us to wait it out pertaining to the curvature in his spine. That's unacceptable. I've read about your proprioceptive therapy. We are very interested in seeing how this can benefit my son. The doctor's that we've seen seem to want surgery. Any assistance in helping him to correct his issues would be a blessing. Thank You. We look forward to hearing from you.
